New York City Bar Association’s Land Use, Planning, and Zoning Committee
Matthew J. Schommer joined the firm as an associate in 2019.
Mr. Schommer focuses on land use, zoning, and related real estate transactional matters. He advises developers, owners, and architects on zoning compliance and development potential for properties. He regularly appears before New York City’s various land use agencies, including the Board of Standards and Appeals, Department of City Planning, City Planning Commission, Department of Buildings, Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and Environmental Control Board. Mr. Schommer is also involved in transactions for the transfer of development rights, and negotiates and drafts zoning lot development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, construction license agreements, and other related documents. Mr. Schommer also has significant experience advising clients on the New York City Construction Codes and the Multiple Dwelling Law.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schommer was an associate with two other New York City zoning and land use law firms. Mr. Schommer is an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Land Use, Planning, and Zoning Committee.
